  • One of the more memorable episodes - but really doesn't rise very high in the world of good televsion.

    5.1
Chet has a problem player on the team, a kid who just can't curb his language.

I really wanted to like this show when it aired, I liked Cosby and me and my brothers all were avid basketball nuts. Typical for the series, there are good points and bad to this episode. I liked Cosby in the Chet Kincaid role, laid back but at the same time willing to help kids and show a good example, and that comes through here.

The plot just comes off as silly, and as I think about it today, even more so than when I watched it at the time. It begins with a player who can not avoid using expletives on the court, and there are plenty of bleeped words to match his habit. The solution is rather ordinary and not really in keeping with the potential for what could be really bothering the guy (other than his dad's own language). So its rather a letdown to hear the kid and his team mates shout, at Chet's suggestion, phrases such as "fudge", and "double fudge" as an answer to his problem. Even as a kid, it seemed like the promise of the title to hear dirty words was just a tease and the episode itself not much of a substitute.moreless
