Imagine this: One night, you're awakened by a cat burglar. You chase him off, but he comes back the next day, trashes your pad, carjacks you at gunpoint and tries to blackmail you into helping him knock over a bank in broad daylight.

Now, bear in mind that not only are you the second strongest person on the planet (after, of course the 6MDM), but you have the entire might of the government of the most powerful nation on Earth just chomping at the bit to send this guy up the river forever. Would you: A) use that might, B) panic and make some other foolish choice, or C) risk your own life to get the guy off, literally running a gauntlet of angry men with guns cradling the now helpless hood and trailing his pet chimp??? Sometimes (as here) what you're NOT shown is as compelling as what IS on film. In this case, a season which saw Jamie saving the entire world, smashing "fembots" to rescue her boss and jetting around the country after every conceivable threat to national security is nicely bookended by this sweet, small-scale tale of a reluctant renegade and the improbable series of events that starts with his picking what he ruefully decides was the WRONG house to rob, only to discover he's actually brought the RIGHT person into his life at just the perfect moment. B+, would have been an A- had the music and the rest of the treatment not implied this was all just comic relief.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • It would seem that Inky is able to capture Jaime's bionic abilities on film from an amazing number of angles while sitting in a tree with a single camera.

    • When Inky goes to the bar, a Musak version of Elton John & Kidi Dee's Top 40 hit "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" is playing in the background. Funny because EXACTLY the same song was playing at Duke's bar in the previous week's episode, "Iron Ships and Dead Men"! I guess they figured no one would notice a week later.

    • As with most writers that write TV scripts, they don't know the difference between a Chimp and a Monkey. Inky's pet is the former.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Oscar: What if you continued to go along with him?
Jaime: You want me to become a bank robber?
Oscar: Help him with the robbery - and I'll be there to catch him for his third felony.
Jaime: You want me to set this man up?
Oscar: I can pull some strings, Jaime, and have him sent to Alcatraz.
Jaime: Alcatraz is closed down, Oscar.
Oscar: You're beginning to get the idea, babe.

    • Oscar: Do you have any idea what you're dealing with? I ran a fast check on this character; this is the file on him. Carl Inkervoya, also known as 'Inky.' He's got a string of arrests as long as your arm...
Jaime: Which he knows all about...
Oscar: ... mostly petty thefts. He's not wanted for anything now, but he's gone down on grand theft twice. The last time he was caught because a... because a monkey triggered the burglar alarm?!
      Jaime: (laughing) I'll believe that!
