Bob fears the worst when Emily sees the chance to match Howard and Carol as a couple.
The main theme for this episode is good, but as is often the case, the dialog and relationships between characters are what make it work so well. I always like it when Bob and Emily make jokes about their relationship, and when Emily appears at Bob's office to drop Howard off at the dentist, there are some great zingers. Newhart's "deadpan" almost always seems to work. It's especially good to watch Bob tell his wife that failed matchmaking is one of the major sources of clients for his psychology business. Also enjoyable are the excuses Carol gives to Howard for being unable to see him again.
Normally, I'm not a big fan of the Howard character, he just seems too broadly drawn as a dufus - but in this case he is well-used, and if Carol does seem determined to "fly away with him", Akron appears like a great destination.
Nice pacing on this episode, one of the good ones from Season 1.
