  • This one was good, but nowhere near as interesting as the first part, apart from the usual amazing performance by Jeremy Irons.

The Borgias are at it again, bed hopping, plotting, being plotted against and silencing those who appose them or who could bring down Rodrigo's papacy.

Cesare now has his trusty (and trusted) assassin to do his bidding and he certainly makes the most of it as he gives the man instructions which will ultimately lead to the death of a young woman who has proof that Pope Alexander is not QUITE as pure and Holy as he should be. Meanwhile, the mother of Borgia's children finds out about his affair with the lovely Julia and is less than impressed when she learns of it, particularly as she hears it from her young daughter who has met the woman.

My biggest complaint is that true historians portray both Rodrigo and his eldest son as being far more brutal personally than this, not quite as 'in the background while someone else does their bidding' as the show is portraying but we shall see if that changes as the episodes move along. Too many unnecessary sex scenes, they could have spent the money on a little more research in a couple of areas. I still liked it though and have hopes that it will continue to impress.
