I think the original Tiger got killed when he got hit by a car, so they brought in a second dog that played Tiger, but the second dog wasn't as well trained and just didn't work out, so they dropped the whole idea of them having a dog without mention.

Fluffy the cat from the pilot episode disappeared too right after that one appearance.

The real (first) Tiger ran off the during the filming of episode 4 ("Katchoo"), and was promptly struck by a car and killed.  The crewperson who let it happen went to the Los Angelos LAPD that night and found a dog that was almost identical to the original Tiger--but of course, he wasn't trained.  The next day, during filming, the dog wouldn't behave.  The director had a fit, wondering loudly what was wrong with the dog; the crewperson had to confess.  To get the dog to lie still during the tearful "farewell" scene in the boy's bedroom, the staff had to nail a dog collar to the floor, force the dog to lie down, and strap him in.  This is all in Barry William's book.  After this episode, Tiger is rarely seen or mentioned.

No u r wrong. I checked the site on this.

Tiger was having a chase with a flower truck it said. And he lost They used a fake dog nailed to the floor for one scene. Tiger was the real dog for all the episodes accept for the last one he was in.

I remember reading this info years ago. A rather interesting read. Another thing I learned which was interesting too: Susan Olsen (Cindy) explained the doghouse remained despite Tiger's disappearance. See, an overhead spotlight fell and left some damage, so the doghouse was moved to cover it.

Um...yeah, that's exactly what I said. Hit by a vehicle, they used another (fake) Tiger for his last ep.
