  • What's that wild scent you're wearing? Buttered popcorn!!!!

    9.5
This, to me, is the funniest episode of the entire series! Greg needs to find a date for the cousin of a girl he really wants to go out with. Only problem is none of his High School buddies are willing to take a chance on a blind date. Out of sheer desperation, Greg recruits Peter to pose as "Phil Packer," a "swinging dude from another school" Greg and Peter take their dates, Sandra and Linda, to a drive in. Linda (Peter's blind date) turns out to be stunning--better looking than Sandra, Greg's date. You can see more than a little envy on Greg's face. Peter wears a ridiculous fake mushstache to make himself appear older. He mimics Greg's cheesy pickup lines and at one point asks Linda, "What's that wild scent you're wearing?" She replies, "Buttered popcorn!!!" Peter had just spilled an entire box of the oily snack on her. The girls eventually figure out that Phil isn't what he claims to be and they set up their revenge by asking Greg and Phil to take them out that on a 2nd date. Both girls fawn over Peter, err ah, Phil and totally ignore Greg. Just so happens, Mike and Carol are entertaining some very conservative business clients at the same restaurant where all this is happening. Mike's client accuses Peter of engaging in "x-rated" behavior for "necking" in public. Eventually, Mike is able to smooth things over and salvage the deal but the boys get a lecture about the evils of deception.moreless
