  • Notes

    • If anyone has seen the movie, The Sound of Music, might recognize the actor playing Doug Simpson. It's actor Nicholas Hammond who played the eldest boy, Friedrich von Trapp.

    • This episode was parodied in The Brady Bunch Movie.

    • Although this is one of the most famous episodes from the series, it was one of Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady)'s least favorite ones to film. She was forced to stand there as several different people whacked her in the face with the football. Christopher Knight (Peter Brady) was the person who finally got it to hit just the right spot on her nose, and McCormick remembers how relieved she was when they finally announced that they had gotten the footage they needed.

    • The famous "Ooh, my nose!" episode. The immortalized utterance comes after Marcia (who is calling Peter and Bobby inside) is hit by their errant football. Marcia vainly tries to hide her nose whenever Doug comes into sight.

Late in the episode, Marcia (recounting her date with nice-guy Charlie) mentions she saw Doug at the pizza parlor with another girl. Doug and Charlie get into it, with Charlie giving Doug a broken nose (and plenty of embarassment).
