Billy begins dealing with his new free-agent superstar, Reggie Jackson, that owner George Steinbrenner signed in an effort to return the Yankees to the World Series. Billy has made it clear to George and Reggie that he did not want Reggie on his team. Reggie refers to himself as "the straw that stirs the drink" in a Sport Magazine article further alienating himself from his manager and teammates.
