The Buddha

Show Summary

The Buddha is a PBS documentary produced by David Grubin and centers around the life of the Buddha, the historical and religious icon. Gautama Buddha is considered to be first enlightened being and thus the father of Buddhism, the third largest religion in the world. Here, the story of his life and teachings are told through expert interviews with monks, followers and historians. Matched with colorful animations and sacred art pieces dating back over two thousand years, this documentary is spiritually engaging as it is inspirational and educational. Once a long time ago, a wealthy prince named Guatama gave up luxury and wealth of a kingdom to find spiritual security and a solution to all being's suffering. The road there is tough, the internal challenges incorrigible. But, if Buddha can realize and eliminate the cause of pain and worry of death, so can all of us. Who knows, this could be the first step in finding your own way! Narrated by famous actor and renowned Buddhist, Richard Gere.moreless
