The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour

Show Summary

Spun-off from ABC's prime time series The Bugs Bunny Show and the CBS Saturday morning series The Road Runner Show. The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour was the most succesful and popular attempt to bring the classic Looney Tunes cartoons to Saturday morning television where they became a mainstay for more than three decades.

The series presented popular animated shorts which were originally produced for the silver screen, where they would appear right before a major motion picture, but here they were introduced by new segments as well as new title cards not shown in the original theatrical versions. Also included were Road Runner cartoons originally shown on the The Road Runner Show.

Many people who grew up watching this show will most likely remember it by the opening theme "This Is It" performed by Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck which was shown in black & white when it was created for The Bugs Bunny Show but then shown in color and remodified specifically for this Saturday morning series. In the late '70s The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour eventually became The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show when CBS decided to add an additional 30 minutes to each episode.

  • Bugs Bunny at your Breakfast Table!

One of the pleasure of watching Saturday morning cartoons in the 1960's is The Bugs bunny/road runner Hour on CBS. I watch Bugs Bunny and his friends every Saturday morning. Bugs along with the Road Runner and other loony Tunes entertained me with their classic cartoons, and at one full hour, I want more. Watching Bugs bunny is heaven sent cartoons to me. I love the series. it's the best thing on Saturday morning television where the other cartoons tried but failed. the gags had amused me and like the way Bugs bunny handled himself. A hour with Bugs bunny and his friends is time well-spent.moreless
  • Another fantastic classic animated series.

    9.0
This is another version of the classic Looney Tunes cartoons featuring Buggs and his pals. This one was about as good as any of their shows and of course was followed by controversy over the violence. I guess seeing the Road Runner drop a boulder on Wile E. Coyote in a cartoon was suppose to make me do the same my brother and sister or something. To me, it was a lot of fun and I never ever thought about the violence. The Road Runner almost always won out against the Coyote and Buggs almost always won against whomever he was up against. I wish Bugs and daffy would have been allies because I liked them both very much. Porky and Elmer were good to have around so they could battle with somebody.moreless
  • My Two Favorite Looney Tunes Characters

    10
As far as many try to create a new series of Looney Tunes, this one is unoriginal. It contains most of the classic Looney Tunes shorts. However I enjoy them, because they feature two of my favorite characters; Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner. Bugs Bunny is better and smarter than Mickey Mouse. The Road Runner never gets caught by Wile E. Coyote. I'm a huge fan of the Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote cartoons.

I don't care what type of series they show they Looney Tunes. I still think they are hilarious. That's why their show is so cool.moreless

  • Gotta love the classics.

Looney Toons was hailed by many to be one of the funniest shows ever. This show continues it and does a **** of a good job doing it. The classics are always the best. I can never get enough of cartoons like this. The classics die fast, but always stay in our hearts.
