The Clangers

Show Summary

This classic stop-motion animation series from the BBC followed a family of cave-dwelling, knitted aliens. Named after the sound made by the saucepan lids that protect their home from space debris, the Clangers meet a host of interesting personalities on their little planet.

  • A great reboot of a classic stop-motion series, and I am happy it remains too!

Clangers is an awesome childhood show for many people in the UK, the series was made by Oliver Postgate, The same person behind another classic, Bagpuss, Ivor the Engine and Noggin the Nog and Oliver himself narrated the show. The series is about 5 knitted mice called Clangers who live in outer space and have adventures around their environment. The series ran for 1969-1971, with 2 specials airing in 1974.

After many years of DVD releases of the show and after Oliver Postgates death, Oliver's Son, Daniel Postgate is produced an remake of the show under Smallfilms (Just like the original) and Calorbi (I think) and despite a few minor changes to the characters, it still remains the stop motion series we love to bits.moreless
