Melissa: (about Quinn) The kids asked about him.
William: Good. What'd you say?
Melissa: What they needed to know.
William: Which means what?
Melissa: Which means not as much as you wish I did, but more than I would have on my own.
William: Well that's the tricky part, right, babe? Telling our kids just enough to, uh, keep their heads clear, their eyes open, but not so much that you scare 'em off from taking risks? You know, the good ones.

Lula: I made you some tea.
William: Oh, honey, I'm not a tea kinda guy.
Lula: It's chamomile, it will relax you.
William: Oh, I don't need to be relaxed.
Lula: A boy tried to kiss me.
William: (after a long pause) Gimme the tea.

(Ben has been caught smoking.)
William: You know, you're making some great decisions with your life.
Ben: I guess that makes me the apple, then, huh, tree?

William: (about Darnell) You had one thing to take care of, Akani. You want to get into a pissing contest with me? What the hell are you doing having him make a buy?
Akani: Do you want to hear my side of the story?
William: Not unless it ends in, "Yes, William, we did exactly what you told us to do."
