William: I think about that guy, that French man who tight-roped across Manhattan, 100 stories up quarter of a mile on a long thin wire. He had such faith in his balance, in that line, he did the whole thing without a net.
A reference to Philippe Petit who, in 1974 after 8 months of careful planning, illegally rigged a high wire between the twin towers of the newly-opened World Trade Center, then the world's tallest building. He was arrested after nearly an hour and was jailed. The stunt was made into a documentary film called Man on Wire, released August 2008 in the United Kingdom.
