The Closer

Brenda and Fritz again find themselves at odds when the chief suspect in a local murder turns out to be a man under FBI surveillance and suspected to be the lynchpin behind a multimillion dollar interstate burglary ring. Meanwhile, Brenda's parents arrive for a brief, spontaneous visit and come bearing not only gifts but life changing news.

Brenda and her team, with the help of Buzz' visiting sister Casey, must figure out who sabotaged a zip line leading to Santa Randy's death as he was making his entrance into a Christmas Village. The investigation focuses on Santa Jack McBride as well a stash of drugs and cash that were found at the Village.

The death of a high school principal who had been trying to raise test scores at his school to prevent it from being closed causes Brenda and Fritz to fight over who has control of the case because an already existing FBI investigation causes the cases to overlap.

Meanwhile, an underappreciated Capt. Raydor continues to document Major Crimes' every move. Worn down after two months of following them around, she begins to think about her role and its value to the LAPD.

Brenda and her team investigate what led to a father's disappearance, just as his daughter's single was about to rocket to the top of the charts. Brenda has an opportunity to make her lawsuit disappear by settling with the family who brought it against her, but the deal may not be as good as advertised.

Brenda and Gabriel visit an inmate who tells them that he has information about a drug cartel hit that is planned for the next day, but only gives Brenda a Case Number before he is murdered in jail. Despite Chief Pope's insistence that the case be handed over to the D.A.'s office, the team continues the investigation with the help of Capt. Raydor, who finds a creative way to help out.

Meanwhile Brenda's lawyer, Gavin Baker, re-interviews each team member in an effort to find the leak in the Division.

As a professional courtesy to a Detective from Phoenix, Brenda's team looks into the death of her daughter, who was working as a prostitute and was found dead in a hotel room from a heroin overdose. The mother is convinced that her daughter never did drugs and when the team digs deeper, they discover that a piece of information the Detective did not share may provide another motive for murder.

Meanwhile, Captain Raydor continues to seek information regarding the death of Turell Baylor and when she obtains a piece of evidence critical to the investigation, Brenda is left in a position of having to make Detective Sanchez available for another interview in exchange for the evidence. In the end, a dramatic conclusion is reached.

The squad deals with more suspects than they know what to do with when a body found under a partially-constructed retaining wall turns out to be that of a registered sex offender.

Meanwhile, Brenda's sticker shock over attorney fees means Fritz may have to give up some luxuries he holds dear.

The family of a prominent minister could find itself in big trouble when they withhold information from Major Crimes in the hopes of keeping the pastor's dark secret from church members.
Meanwhile, Brenda's efforts to keep the Turell Baylor lawsuit to herself end when the entire team, except for Gabriel, is subpoenaed by the plaintiff's lawyer who disguises himself as a process server. The fact that Gabriel was the only one not subpoenaed causes tension and infighting which could get in the way of solving the case.

The potential legal trouble for Brenda escalates as Captain Raydor's interview questions about the Turell Baylor murder intensify, along with a suggestion that Brenda does not like.

Meanwhile, the team's next case, that of a missing nine year old boy, hits very close to home for Lieutenant Tao because the missing boy goes to the summer camp where the Lieutenant's 16-year old son works. Because of the connection, he ends up as the lead investigator on the case.

Provenza recruits Flynn and Buzz to earn some "easy money" by serving papers for a lawyer who called him. Immediately after serving the man, who insists he's not the person they are looking for, he plummets to his death and lands on Buzz's car. When Fritz arrives on the scene, he informs everyone that the dead man was convicted of massive fraud and was awaiting sentencing. Suspicion soon falls on the dead man's wife, who had discovered that in addition to his criminal behavior, he was having an affair.

As they are leaving Chief Delk's memorial service, the team is called to investigate the death of a young lady who was house sitting for a vacationing family. Suspicion immediately falls on one of the dead girl's professors, a man with a history of inappropriate behavior with his students. As the team digs deeper, it turns out that the robbery is one of a series and has a connection to the son of the vacationing family.

Meanwhile, the fallout from the civil lawsuit continues as Captain Raydor is ordered to broaden her investigation and interview everyone on Brenda's team by Interim Police Chief Pope, who seems mostly interested in getting the job permanently.

Brenda and her squad investigate the shooting deaths of seven people at the home of rap record label owner Antwone Decker. When it turns out that one of the dead men was the label's #1 star and that he was shopping himself to other labels, suspicion immediately falls on Decker. Sergeant Gabriel, who knows two of the victims through his church, becomes incensed when the team assumes them to be gang members, a theory further supported by the find of $750,000 in the house.

Meanwhile, Chief Delk is preparing to announce his reorganization plans and Brenda's past actions are called into question when they are the focus of a lawsuit filed against the LAPD, Major Crimes and Brenda herself.

When a crack addict is arrested on Skid Row, Commander Taylor passes the file to Major Crimes so that they will appear busy. When Brenda interviews the addict she empathizes with him, much to the frustration of David Gabriel, for whom the facts in the case, specifically a set of keys the addict threw away during his arrest, don't add up. He tries desperately to get his point across to Brenda eventually going over her head to both Chief Pope and Fritz, who shares a terrible secret from his alcoholic past to help her see what addicts can be capable of.

The team has another murder victim, the first victim's sister, which stretches the case through Christmas Day and raises more questions about the involvement of Armand and Joan Marku.

In the middle of the investigation, Brenda gets a panic phone call from her parents when their RV is robbed of all their Christmas gifts as well as its microwave.

Brenda, her the entire team and Captain Raydor's holiday plans change suddenly when a man is attacked by a knife-wielding assailant who is accidentally run over and killed by the police officer responding to 911 calls. The investigation takes a dramatic twist when it turns out the man's dead attacker is his estranged father.

Meanwhile, Brenda & Fritz receive a huge surprise for Christmas from Brenda's visiting parents.

After Robbery/Homicide gets nowhere with a series of armed robberies at medical marijuana dispensaries, Chief Delk turns the investigation over to Major Crimes. The team is not sure why they are handed the case, but when the next robbery includes a murder, Chief Delk is proven right in his decision to have Major Crimes lead the investigation.

Meanwhile, Brenda is left to consider a possible promotion.

Brenda's next case has her and the team investigating the brutal murder of an actress who was dating through an online service. Unfortunately the case takes a back seat when Brenda, under the guidance of Captain Raydor, must prepare for her interview with the mayor for the Chief of Police position. While Brenda still has second thoughts about whether she'd like the job, she manages to juggle the preparation with keeping a hand in the case, which was handed over to Commander Taylor.

Brenda's investigation into the shooting of three soldiers at a club in Los Angeles just days after they returned from active duty in Afghanistan brings her up against a military man whose agenda threatens the investigation of not only the three murders, but two others recently committed at a neighborhood convenience store.

A familiar and non-violent gang of thieves, know as the Dear Jane Robbers, leave more questions than answers after a security guard is killed and they thieves depart in a barrage of automatic weapons fire. The most puzzling question is why this one crime did not fit their usual pattern. Brenda finds Fritz that has a wealth of information and is also showing an unusual amount interest in the crime. She and the team are shocked to discover the reason why.

Meanwhile, Brenda and Chief Pope find out if their chances ay becoming the next Chief of Police when the short list of candidates is released.

Sergeant Gabriel is an unwitting witness to the murder of a parole board member when he answers a misdialed call for help. Popeever mindful of the upcoming choice for Chief of Policedecides to take the case over from Brenda and launches Operation Swift Justice, taking over Major Crime's offices in the process. When all is said and done, Chief Pope may end up with a different outcome than he had hoped.

Detective Mikki Mendoza requests the help of Major Crimes when a series of savage murders suggests that a drug cartel is active in the city. When the investigation leads in a different direction, an even more disturbing scenario emerges.

Meanwhile, Provenza lays down the law with a distracted Sanchez who continues to appear more interested in Ruben than his professional duties. This results in a more defiant Sanchez and a decision by Provenza to resolve the situation for good.

While extraditing a prisoner on a flight, Lieutenants Flynn and Provenza connect with two flight attendants. When Provenza returns to his date's apartment, instead of romance he finds a dead body in the bathtub and lands Major Crimes in the middle of two of murders and a connection to a drug trafficking ring. The drug angle has the FBI, in the form of Fritz, trying to 'wheedle' in on the case.

Meanwhile, Brenda makes a career decision and ends up telling Chief Pope about it.

Brenda and her squad are asked to investigate the disappearance of the nanny of the Diskins, close friends of the mayor. When the nanny turns up raped and murdered, suspicion initially falls on the mayor's friends.

Meanwhile Capt. Raydor, who is questioning Brenda in embarrassing detail about her history with Chief Pope, ostensibly as background for his application for Chief of Police, joins Brenda in the investigation shadowing her every move, but her deep interest seems unusual.

Season six starts us off with the investigation into the murder of a man who loved to take pictures of star constellations from his balcony. Brenda and her squad think there maybe a connection a woman who the victim was having an affair with. There is one problem Brenda might not have anticipated; a missing murder weapon.

Meanwhile, moving into a new, technologically state of the art office tower proves to be a challenge to the team.

Provenza plays the role of a hit man, going undercover to get to the bottom of a murder for hire. Things quickly spiral out of control when the contract victim turns up dead and the evidence is stolen with Provenza's car. The team must act quickly to figure out what happened to save Provenza and his job.

Season Premiere. Originally called in to assist with crowd control in a burned out Griffith Park, Brenda and the PHD switch gears and take control of a murder investigation when a woman's body is discovered amid the chaos.

The temperature is rising in Brenda's personal life as she and Fritz get under each other's skin while living temporarily in the close quarters of an apartment.

Brenda and the FBI battle for jurisdiction over a case when a woman is found dead at the bottom of a cliff. The woman, an accountant for the Department of Homeland Security, was in Los Angeles to run an audit on the LAPD. She is found without her encrypted cell phone and laptop, making the case the FBI's but Brenda and her team want to keep the case in the PHD.

The funeral of an former police colleague of Flynn and Provenza takes an unexpected turn when the casket is dropped, revealing not only their friend's body, but that of a nude, blonde woman, about whom Flynn and Provenza might know more than they realize. As Brenda investigates, she must also tangle with an irate bride who believes Brenda ruined her wedding.

Brenda and Fritz' efforts to find a house gain momentum.

When Provenza's card is found on the body of a missing teenaged gang member, it appears the boy may have tried to contact Provenza about a shooting, but disappeared before he could. As a result, Brenda soon put a priest, whose life's work centers on reforming teens involved with gangs, in the middle of her investigation, and finds he has an unexpected defender: Sgt. Gabriel.

Back at home, Brenda must now deal with her father, who knows that she and Fritz are living together.

The third season opens with a 3:00am roll-out that sends the PHD to the scene of the brutal triple murder of a couple and their pre-teen daughter. As the team processes the crime scene, they discovery the couple's teenaged son, Eric, still alive and on drugs in the attic. At first Eric seems to be their likely suspect but, as the investigation proceeds, the dead man's mysterious business partner, a psychologist named Dr, Reichter and his connection to Eric's father may hold the key.

Meanwhile, a financial crisis in the LAPD forces Brenda to face the loss of a detective. At home, Fritz tires of having no place for his belongings and decides he and Brenda should get a bigger house. When Brenda resists, he finds a creative way to make his point.

Special Episode. Glad to be back with her team, Brenda focuses on finding a terrorist-linked suspect. Working with the CIA, who also wants their hands on this suspect, Brenda realizes that she was given false information, and wonders if she's been set up.

When the killer's identity is uncovered, the PHD finds themselves under attack; an attack that takes someone down.

Once she gets to the crime scene, she and the Priority Homicide Division are faced with another challenge: the murdered bodies are nowhere to be found. In order to solve this case, they must first search for the victims before they can hunt for the killer.
