The story had some nice twists to it. The acting was good - what I could see. The audio was fine. The camera work was abysmal - a genuine score of ONE.

This is the age of HDTV, digital image processing, and pristine detail. And what do we get? A never ending Brownian movement background, hand held shaky cam shots ad infinitum, and action sequences that one cannot grasp because the jump cuts and edits mar any continuity of vision.

In a word, it's great RADIO but lousy TV.

I had to repeat the section where Brenda shoots the assailant because I missed it the first time. The imagery is THAT BAD. I couldn't track what the expletive deleted was going on. And I have an 8' wide HDTV screen.

If this continues in the next season, "The Closer" will become "Closed" on my viewing schedule. FIR SHIR, DUDES.moreless
  • Excellent as usual. Spoiler Alert!

Brenda must work side by side with Tommy Delk (Courtney B. Vance), who heads the counter-terrorism unit of the LAPD,and just happens to be the other candidate for the Chief of Police position. The murder of two paramedics is just the beginning of what might be a terrorist bomb plot. The FBI has been looking for a man that has fallen off the grid for two years after a failed bombing at the IRS building in Los Angeles or was it? Brenda soon deduces that the subject was after the fire station across the street because he has a grudge against the fire department for rejecting his application in 2005 & 2007 for psychological reasons. Brenda and her team figure the plot of the "bomber" before he commits his final act but not until he kills another innocent man. Brenda attempts to reason with the bomber who has rigged two oxygen tanks with a nerve gas and strapped the "bomb" to his body. When reasoning does not work she is forced to kill him...the day before the Mayor announces his choice for the Chief of Police position. Tommy Delk gets the job rather than Brenda. Chief Pope thinks he will be out of a job and Commander Taylor is already sucking up to the new Chief. Personally, I cannot wait till November when the next episode airs!moreless

    • Brenda: What is it, Commander?
Taylor: Look, Delk will probably have his own ideas for investigating the deaths of Silva and Vargas and you might want to keep that in mind when collaborating with him.
Brenda: You want me to play nicely with Tommy Delk in case he becomes Chief of Police.
Taylor: All I'm saying is that in addition to your two victims, there are several still living people counting on you.
Brenda: Why thank you for the vote of confidence, Commander.
      Taylor: Good morning, Chief Johnson.
      Brenda: Good morning.
