Episode Summary

EDIT

After Robbery/Homicide gets nowhere with a series of armed robberies at medical marijuana dispensaries, Chief Delk turns the investigation over to Major Crimes. The team is not sure why they are handed the case, but when the next robbery includes a murder, Chief Delk is proven right in his decision to have Major Crimes lead the investigation.

Meanwhile, Brenda is left to consider a possible promotion.

With Pope's future in question, the future of Brenda's squad is also in jeopardy due to budget restraints and the new Chief of Police Delk. There have been robberies of marijuana dispensaries that Chief Delk worries will become more violent. As if on cue, there is another robbery and with it a murder of one of the owners. Delk removes the case from the Robbery Homicide Division and turns it over to Brenda, putting the cold case that Pope assigned them on the back burner. Provenza is none too happy having to assist the "drug dealers" so Delk makes him the liaison for the dispensary owners and the LAPD. It comes to his attention that there is someone coming in the night before the robbery staking out the security measures in place and that he was in one of the dispensaries that night so the team stakes out the dispensary the next morning. Sanchez's 'explanation' of two different kinds of pot is funny, Provenza's attitude is hilarious, the tongue-in-cheek jokes are a hoot! This episode is what makes The Closer the fine show that it is. It knows how to mix drama and comedy equally and brings us a brilliantly written, brilliantly acted show that I look forward to watching every week. I will miss Kyra when she departs but hope the other characters live on in the spin-off for another 7 or more seasons!moreless
