  • Loved Beau Bridges!

This episode was very good. I loved Beau Bridges as the transsexual George/Georgette! He was so funny; I hope he gets an Emmy nod, but he won't. The Closer is in the drama category and he wasn't dramatic in this role, but very funny. I hope he or the show submits the episode anyway.

The storyline/plot itself was pretty good, but Beau Bridges made this episode. And I don't think it is necessarily the storylines that make this show so good. It is the actors and the characters they portray. But there have been some very good storylines over the years of this series.moreless
  • After last week's emotionally charged episode, this week's presentation was undoubtedly one of the more unique episodes of "The Closer."

    8.0
From the first scene, it was hard to take the storyline seriously. The tone was set with Brenda Leigh in a fuzzy pink parka that resembled an Easter costume. She and Fritz were headed for a skiing vacation. Pope appears with a case from the past and the episode took on sort of a "tongue in cheek" flavor from that point on.

A woman(bogus home nurse), who had supposedly murdered a wealthy banker with an overdose of morphine, was about to be set free on a technicality due to a laboratory error. Lt. Provenza and his former partner, George, had worked the case and was prepared to handle the development so Brenda and Fritz could go on their vacation. George(now retired) was on his way to L.A. to help ensure the woman did not go free. George(Beau Bridges) arrives in feminine attire, not just as cross-dresser, but as a real woman now named Georgette. No disrespect intended, but he made the worst transsexual to ever appear on television. It almost seemed as if he was trying very hard not to laugh throughout the entire show. Brenda decides she needs to stay for the hearing since no one will take George/Georgette's testimony seriously with his new persona. Fritz decides to go skiing without her. On the heels of a broken romance, the irony of Georgette's effect on Lt. Provenza was hilarious. Not only had he lost the love of his life, but his male ex-partner and very close friend had a sex change operation. Provenza was visibly shaken while the rest of the team was less than sensitive. Sanchez's question to George/Georgette, "[D]id they cut off your penis is indicative of the team's attitude about the whole ordeal.

The case plot was fairly interesting. The involvement of the "nurse's" son was quite a twist and his subsequent confession pitted him against his own mother. He was an insurance adjuster who's job it was to investigate the security of wealthy client's valuables. The scam was to get his mother a job as nurse for sick and dying clients and then steal whatever valuables she could get her hands on. Once the son realized that his mother was a deranged serial killer, he was too heavily involved to plead ignorance.

As Georgette departs for her train, Provenza seems to come to some sort of comical acceptance of his friend's life-changing event. Brenda arrives home to find Fritz in the bathtub since he came back early from the ski trip. He pulls a fully clothed Brenda into the tub and it's lights out.

What will next week bring? Maybe Brenda is really a guy!!! Highly doubtful.moreless
  • A number of cases get overturned when a lab who had done worked in the past for the LAPD was found to have botched some jobs. One of the cases is a murder that involved a retired detective and a nurse who killed her elderly charge. Expect surprises!moreless

    9.5
Another wonderful acting job for the entire cast of The Closer. This show continues to excel beyond many of its peers. Let me also say that I believe Beau Bridges did an excellent job as Georgette/George, Lou's former partner. This may be an Emmy worthy performance.

I especially enjoyed the bullpen scene with Sanchez asking all the questions, the scene at the end where "George" interrogated the convicted murderer, and also the scene in Brenda's office where Lou made Georgette cry. Just a few of the wonderful scenes in this show.

The final two scenes both were great closers for the program as well as it put a nice bow on the overall storylines.

This show continues to entertain and I personally enjoy catching up on Major Case's crew each week. Thanks for reading...moreless
