  • I've watched this series since the very first episode. And I have to say that this episode is by far my favorite out of all of them. It was "The Closer" magnified by like 10 times. The storyline was great, mixing the engagement with the massive manhunt!moreless

Mixing the engagement with the story of a serial killer and having Brenda and Fritz work together again was great, along with the health storyline. It had everything a "Closer" episode always has but much better.

    S. Epatha Merkeson is one of my favorite female actress. I was sooooooo surprised and shocked to see her on "The Closer," I think she was a perfect fit for the doctor. I love her character on "Law & Order" she is a very powerful female lead. You can tell that in "L & O" she is wearing a wig. I've always loved to see her with her braids. Hope she comes back again!

The ending was phenomenal! I don't think I would have ever seen that coming in a million years.moreless
  • Best Closer episode ever. Wedding proposal, menopause and a full-on manhunt for a serial killer all for Brenda.

    10
Brenda Leigh Johnson, caught with early onset menopause, investigates the death of the wife of a man working for the D.A.'s office and the one of a Jane Doe both found on a different beach but seem like they were murdered by the same '90's serial killer. Fritz feels time has come to propose to Brenda.

  • A trio of murders and who's getting married?

    9.5
This was an incredible episode I loved that it was different. It was nice to see that Brenda had to kill the guy so he wouldn't kill her first and it was nice to see that she actually didn't get a confession!

I loved that Brenda was doing better emotionally in this episode too. It was nice to see her not flipping out like she did in the previous episode. It was nice seeing her a little more mellow.

I loved how they finally did find out that it was menopause. It was sad to watch Brenda's reaction to that though. In the last episode she didn't seem too happy when Fritz suggested that and it was so sad to see her in tears because of that. Fritz was so amazing though because he just seemed to know what to do to make her feel better. I loved the terror in Brenda's eyes when they were at the doctors.

Fritz proposing was brilliant!!! I loved how Brenda only thought he was doing it because he felt sorry for her. The entire scene was adorable and I loved it. It was great seeing Brenda with her head in the clouds in the next scene too.

The case was actually very awesome in my opinion. I love cases that have weapons like cattle prods and stun guns probably what I get from watching Bones so much!!! ;-) But it's cool to see different weapons besides just stabbing someone to death or shooting them because that stuff gets old after a while.

I totally loved that Brenda realized that Danny was the killer almost as soon as she saw him. I loved her conversation with Provenza too. I enjoyed seeing Brenda trying to talk in hushed tones it was brilliant.

The end with Fritz reading Brenda the report on Danny was cute and a little amusing. I liked seeing how upset Brenda was that she missed the confession.

This was an amazing episode and it's definitely a favorite!moreless

Well the doctor finally said it. Menopause. Brenda says she is to young for it to be happening. The doctor says yes that she is, but it can happen. She hopes that she had more good days than bad (unlike herself) and Brenda freaks knowing that there could be another cause for it. Brenda freaks and Fritz is there for her. He gets down on one knee with a Tiffany and Co box. Wow, he was so romantic and sweet and wants to be with her. Brenda thinks that is a pity thing and he insists that it isn't. She tries on the ring and says yes as long as she can keep her own name. But later at work she takes the ring off, hmmm. Oh yeah, in the real world they are looking for a serial killer. And Brenda gets attacked by the killer and is forced to shoot him.moreless
  • Brenda and the team investigate a serial killer that brutally tortures his victims before branding and killing them. Brenda gets shocking news about her condition, while Fritz has a shock of his own for her.moreless

First of all, i've been watching this show for a little while now, but i never got around to adding it to my favorites or writing a review on it. So now that we've got that out of the way may i just say: I KNEW IT! i KNEW it! i told everyone, i said "you watch, Brenda has the beginning stages or regular menopause." That being said, i was pretty happy with this episode. However, i was a little disappointed because i thought there would be more action between Brenda and the suspect. I didn't think she'd blast him away within the 2 minutes she was being attacked. On another note, the news she got from the Dr. wasn't all that bad; definately could've been worse. On a more serious note though, does this mean she can't have kids? I found the Doc's comment amusing when she said "I haven't slept for 3 years and i carry a fan in my purse." lol pretty cute. So after how many episodes of Brenda and Fritz searching for the perfect home, he finally decides to pop the question. I thought Brenda's reaction was funny when she accused him of only asking her to marry him because he now feels sorry for her. Can't wait to see next week.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • The small blue box Fritz holds out to Brenda during his proposal is from Tiffany and Co. jewelers. Gifts from Tiffany are readily identifiable by their characteristic blue box tied with a white ribbon. Coincidentally, Pope gave Brenda a gift of earrings, also from Tiffany & Co. in Season 1, during the episode 'Batter Up'.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Fritz: (reading the file to Brenda, who turns away) What's wrong?
Brenda: Mr. Jones should be telling me this, not you.
Fritz: Are you seriously upset that you didn't get a confession from this guy? C'mon!
Brenda: I got him by luck. Killing someone is not my idea of closing a case, anyway.

    • Brenda: (Reading the card attached to the flowers) Remember, Chief, when recovering from shock, it's important to keep your legs elevated. For Heaven's sake!
      Fritz: Flynn's a class act.

    • Brenda: (accepting Fritz' proposal and admiring her ring) It's so beautiful. Can I keep my own name?

    • Fritz: (in the doctor's office, on one knee, holding an engagement ring) You see, I've arrived at that place where I can't imagine life without you. And let me just say, I love you, more than anything else in the world. Brenda, will you marry me? Please?
Brenda: (still sobbing over the news from the doctor) You're only asking me 'cause you feel sorry for me.

    • (Discussing Brenda's menopause symptoms)
      Brenda: Today I feel fine.
Dr. Dioli: Yes, and if you're lucky you'll have more days like that. I don't. I haven't slept in three years and I keep a fan in my purse.

    • The challenges of policing the beaches of Los Angeles County comes into play in this episode. The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors oversees the operation of 31 beaches extending from Leo Carillo State Beach near the Ventura County line and Penninsula Beach, at the Orange County line. These beaches lie within the city limits of Los Angeles, Long Beach (the county's two biggest cities) and Santa Monica, as well as several smaller cities and long stretches of unincorporated area. Consequently, it falls to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department to police the beaches and the Los Angeles County Lifeguard Service (yep, the fictional Baywatch) to provide lifeguard services.

    • The policing responsibilities of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department feature prominently in this episode. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is the fourth largest state or local law enforcement department in the US, and provides a wide range of law enforcement services to the county.

Although Los Angeles County is made up of 88 incorporated cities, the largest of which is the city of Los Angeles, it also has large areas of unincorporated territory and and some municipalities that do not have their own police/fire departments. The Sheriff's Department provides policing in these unincorporated areas, and contracts with cities under the Lakewood Plan (so named for the first city under which such services were provided.) Other functions of the LASD include maintaining the massive County Jail system, and staffing the County Court system.

    • Gina Ravera does not appear in this episode. Det. Daniels' absence is explained at the beginning of the episode in a brief conversation when Gabriel tells Brenda that Daniels will be at a Homeland Security seminar for two more weeks.
