Chief Johnson and the rest of the crew find a twelve year old boy(Manuel) brutally murdered. He has gang affiliations with Tres Colores(Three Colors) which include his father and brother(soon due for parole from prison). The trail leads to the murders of three other gang members and the rape of a young girl. Interesting plot twist, since the murder of Manuel, who was too young to be officially a gang member, is avenged by his father. Manuel was shot by the rape victim in self-defense but the father and imprisoned brother blame the other gang members for allowing Manuel to guard the rape victim while the other members left the house to purchase more beer. Brenda tricks the father to confess and then says he and his imprisoned son will be charged with first-degree murder.

As for the overall storyline, Lt. Provenza has been dumped by his fiance and a kitten named Joel debuts as a replacement for Kitty. The episode was a nice change of pace from the reruns of the past two or three week.moreless
