    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Stephen's map of Pennsylvania has a number of factual errors on it. First of all, the state capital of Harrisburg is shown on the western shore of the Susquehanna River, when it is on the eastern shore in reality. Secondly, several additional rivers are drawn on the map in the southern Susquehanna Valley, disproportionate to the size of any actual rivers in the vincinity. Finally, and most egregiously, Three Mile Island is radically out of place, nowhere near the actual location of the plant on the Susquehanna River, several miles downstream from Harrisburg.
Editor's Note: I accepted this before watching the show and while right, the OP seems to have missed the radioactive zombies from Three Mile Island, said zombies attacking Civil War re-enactors, and that Terry Bradshaw's head is now bigger than Pittsburgh. Also, accurate maps on comedy show aren't funny

      • "Self-Evident" succeeds "President Bush Have A Hot Dog With Me" as the last 'adjective' in the opening credits.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Stephen Colbert: You can tell why our country started here [Pennsylvania]. Because this place is packed with heroes!

      • Stephen Colbert: Two wrongs make you a democrat.

      • Mayor Michael Nutter: You're absolutely wrong.
Stephen Colbert: I rarely hear that.
Mayor Michael Nutter: That's the problem.

      • Stephen Colbert: What do the candidates need to do to get inside the heads of these people?
Chris Matthews: Tell them that they're not bitter.

      • Chris Matthews: There's a difference between being a celebrity and someone who works for the people and it's a greater thing to work for the people than being on the television.
Stephen Colbert: I know exactly how you feel…
Chris Matthews: But you serve them in other ways. You get them to go to bed early at night.
Stephen Colbert: Sir, you put me to sleep at 6:00 before.
