(CNN News Clip)
Reporter: Obama was given a Crow Indian name which means "He Who Helps People Throughout the Land."
Stephen Colbert: I assume that land is Iran. Senator McCain also has an Indian name: "One Who Helps People With an Income Over $200,000."
Stephen Colbert: You're Native American. You work with some very poor Native American communities and yet you went to Harvard. How's it like begin an oppressed elitist?
Stephen Colbert: Why don't Native Americans make a deal with Obama and every state you help him win you get to keep.
Winona LaDuke: That's a great idea!
Stephen Colbert: You actually ran as the running mate of Ralph Nader in 2000. What is the Ojibwe word for thank you?
Winona LaDuke: Oh, it's migwich.
Stephen Colbert: Well, migwich for putting Bush in office.
Stephen Colbert: When summertime rolls around, what I would not do for a Klondike bar?
Stephen Colbert: (about John McCain) Look at that face. He is out for blood. Because there is certainly none in that face.
Stephen Colbert: Tonight, are Native Americans' needs being met this election? If not, would they settle for some lovely beads?
Winona LaDuke: I brought this [White Earth reservation flag] because I thought if I planted the flag here in Manhattan and I gave you 24 bucks we'd be set. This is an allusion to the sale of Manhattan in 1626. Peter Minuit bought Manhattan from the Native American Lenape tribe for goods worth only $24.
