now before everybody rips me to pieces over this i just want to say this, I LOVE THiS SHOW, this is one of my favorite shows. But Stephen has sold his soul to the Doritos devil. He's hilarious but i hate it when i hear, "Hail to the cheese" I want Doritos out and Stephen in.

I agree. sometimes it sounds like he's making fun of the heavy sponsoring programs get sometimes. but he is in effect accepting their sponsorship, so it kind of feels weird.

It's not the first time he's done this, and it won't be the last, so I couldn't care less.

stephen colbert is a satirist all he is doing is satirising the right wing media who would sell their very soul for money and all stephen colbert is doing is to take it to the extreme

oh by the way ebony if you do work for doritos could you ask them if they would do pickled onion flavour dorritos or curry flavoured doritos because that would be so brilliant

I completely agree! This continuing product placement has really ruined the show for me!!!! (I was already boycotting Doritos- ironically for being a huge Republican contributor - - so I couldn't stop eating those in response -- but I did skip watching the rest of the Philadelphia shows after that first one).

If he just wanted to spoof the trend of "product placement" he could use fake products like his fake Vaxodrin products!

Exactly! Product placement in television has become invasive and over the top. It's amazing that the judges on "American Idol" don't compliment good performances by saying "Dawg, that was as refreshing as an ice cold glass of Coca Cola".

hes not selling out to doritos. its just funny that a news show would have such obvioud advertisement. cause thats like the opposite of what he is supposed to do. or like wonderbread in talladega nights. just a funny sponsor. plus you get money as a bonus.

Wow, you people don't get it. It's a joke because it's so over the top, and it's satirizing America and all the corporate junk in it. Haven't you see all those times he alluded to how fake and disgusting the Doritos were? A couple times he would say "Mmm, you can really taste the..." and then look at the label and say something like "Dextrohydromorthine Lithulate"...

As long as a sponsor does not change the essence of the show I have nothing to complain about. For pure moral highground I go shopping outside American TV.

I wholeheartedly agree. He is NOT making fun of product placement, he is actually doing this very thing.

Tonight's episode was another example where he crosses the line.

If it was pure mockery it would be like his fake drugs that he pushes in Cheatin' Death segments.

Anyway, this is really ruining the show for me. I get annoyed and often skip the rest of the show (or FFWD if I've taped it).

And I was alread boycotting Doritos & their parent company for being huge republican donors, but if I hadn't already been avoiding them, I would definitely do so after all the product promos!
