Stephen started off tonight's show by mentioning the Chinese President's visit to the United States. The reason for China's economic success has been said to be because of the corruption there. To look into this, Stephen introduces a Colbert Report Special Report, "Money & Politics: The Machine That Ain't Broke". Stephen goes into a brief summary of how politics and money intermingle and then he invites on Jan Schneider, who is running for office in Florida. Also included in the discussion is Norm Ornstein, an accountant. Jan Schneider isn't getting the backing of the Democrats. They're supporting her opponent who she beat in a previous race.

Back from commercial, Stephen turns his attention to former Rep Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who's been charged with taking bribes from a defense contractor. When Stephen heard the government was going to auction off some of Mr. Cunningham's possessions, Stephen asked his building manager, Tad, to attend the auction and to bring him something back. Unfortunately, Tad was only given $200 to spend. On day one, Tad looks over everything at the auction in hopes of finding something for Stephen. The issue of $200 is a big problem. On the big day, Tad watches as several auctions don't go his way. Antiques cost much more than $200. So what did Tad come away with? The "Welcome To The Auction" sign which sat outside of the auction.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomes tonight's guest, Hugh Hewitt. They talk about the strategy to remove Democrats from the Senate and replacing them with Republicans, which is what Mr. Hewitt's book is all about.

I have to say that most of tonight's show was a waste of time. The first main segment was pretty mediocre as was the interview. The middle segment with Tad was fairly funny, but it needed to be funnier and a bit longer. The first segment was a little too long and impacted how good the show could have been.moreless
