      • Stephen: Sorry egg fans! It's the chicken, end of argument! This is the Colbert Report!

      • Stephen: Author Naomi Wolf's new book warns that America is slowly becoming a facist state. Tell me about it! It's taking forever!

      • Stephen: …and that silver lining is tonight's Word. Solitarity. Nation, my generation is the greatest generation alive. (Everyone survived Grenada) Every generation that has followed mine has been a sorry disappointment with stupid nicknames: slacker, Gen-Xers, grungers, Funyons…until now. I finally found a group of kids that might not be so bad. How do I know? By watching them in action, or rather, inaction. Take a look at this footage again. Look at these guys in the back. You don't need a Fox body language expert to tell you that kid in orange is bored. He's probably thinking something like: I wish they'd stop tasering this guy so I can go home and watch this guy getting tasered on YouTube. If that young man who was tasered expects his peers to rise up in protest, he was asking the wrong generation. (Generation X-Nay) Now I don't know whether the tasered gentleman had a legitimate point to make or was just being an ass, we could debate that forever. (Not to long, you'll get tasered) But folks, one thing you can't argue is that his cause was joined by hordes of no one. (Conscientious ignorers) You know, I remember students used to be a rebellious bunch. Forty years ago, in protest of the Vietnam War, three hundred Harvard students took over their administration, thousands disrupted the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and a whole generation fought the power. (Now fight osteoporosis)

But today's kids are so different. Instead of amassing people to march on Washington, they amass hits on a website calling for a march on Washington. (Followed by march on the fridge) The kids in that auditorium who sat idly by as their fellow student was seized, thrown to the grown and tasered didn't lack the courage to help. They're just used to watching videos like "crazy guys thrown out of lecture hall" that they didn't know how to help other than to link to it. (Can you digg it?) Now I'm sure that guy in the orange is going to spring into action as soon as he gets home and fires off his blog. And that's what so great about this new kind of activism, it's convenient. Just like masturbation. It's better than sex because it's on you own time. ("Punching the clock") Make me proud young people! Continue waging your protests from the polite distance of your home computers. Make "the man" wish he'd never visited your site. And if a fellow student is denied the right to speak, remember, the best way to stand shoulder to should with him is by sitting alone in your seat. (Solitarity)

        And that's the Word.

      • Stephen: Tonight, a college student gets tasered at a John Kerry speech. It's the most electrifying thing that's ever happened at a John Kerry speech.
