      • Stephen: Guests of the Colbert Report stay on the fabulous couches of their friends. This is the Colbert Report!

      • Stephen: My guest, Richard Preston, has written a book about redwood forests. When he falls, everyone will hear it.

      • Stephen: I introduce my brand new segment on health. Missing it could kill you!

      • Stephen: …and that group is tonight's Word: The Intolerant. Before the House vote Focus on the Family's James Dobson pointed out on his radio show just how bigoted this anti-bigotry law really is.

[Audio: James Dobson: There is a vote coming up on some insidious legislation…that could silence and punish Christians for their moral beliefs…this legislation could pave the way for religious persecution in this country.]

Stephen: Exactly. This law could discriminate against conservative Christians by taking away their right to discriminate against homosexuals. (Gay-bashing bashing) The pro-tolerance crowd is so hypocritical. They're always going on about how Americans should be more accepting, but as soon as they're asked to accept intolerance they're surprisingly intolerant. And you know who suffers? (Don Imus?) The intolerant. Once again the intolerant have to sit at the back of the tolerance bus. (Cleaner that tolerance subway) Well by taking this firm stance Dobson could very well be the Rosa Parks of intolerance. (Pat Robertson = Malcolm X) And he is not alone in perceiving the threat. Sharing Dobson's fear of this bill are religious scholars like Georgia Representative Lynn Westmoreland. You may remember Representative Westmoreland from his inspiring recitation of Scripture.

[Video: Stephen: You co-sponsored a bill requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in the House of Representative and the Senate. What are the Ten Commandment?
Westmoreland: …What, all of them? You want me to name them all?
        Stephen: Yes, please.
        Westmoreland: Hmmm...I don't know.]

Stephen: These opponents of the hate crimes bill paint a nightmare scenario folks! Imagine a preacher reads a Bible passage that says gay people should be put to death. It's in Leviticus somewhere. (In the "stoning" section) Now if some misguided follower hears this preacher say that God wants gay people to be put to death and somehow misinterprets that to mean that God wants gay people to be put to death, the tolerazi are going to use this law that preacher in jail for inciting violence. (Where he'll convert to Islam) Folks, this sort of thing is happening all the time. (Translation: Has never happened) That is why it's time to forget hate crime legislation and introduce a love crimes bill. (Are you listening, Charlene?) This bill would prohibit intolerance of anyone who loved God so much that he cannot tolerate his fellow man. (Or hates self for loving fellow man)

        And that's the Word.
