  • The Decemberists never really had a chance

    9.9
A drastic change from the usual episode format, it shows how Colbert just will not back down from any challenge. The hype was extremely intense and I thought the over-done graphics displays made the show even greater than it already was. When guitarmageddon was finally upon us, it was all business as very special guest Peter Frampton wowed the celebrity judges and viewers alike. It was a spectacular way to end off the 2006 run of the show and even though it was noticably short on the usual abundance of quirky political comments, the Countdown to Guitarmageddon was one for the ages.moreless
  • an amazing installment that had nothing to do with anything.

This episode of the Colbert Report was amazing. It featured Peter Frampton, Morley Safer, Eliot Spitzer, Dr. Henry Kissinger, and Rick Nielsen. this was a response to the Decemberists green screen challenge, which copied Stephens idea. They had a shred off that would decide who is the better guitarrists. when stephen was up, Peter Frampton substituted for him and shredded his way for a Colbert victory. It was an amazingly off beat episode that wouldnt make sense to any body who isnt a Colbert fan. This is what gave this episode such an amazing feel to it! This episode ended with them all playing their guitars to the Colbert Report theme.moreless
  • What an absurd episode! And that's what made it so good!

    9.0
For the last few weeks, Stephen has been hyping his year end episode as a guitar battle between himself and indy band, The Decemberists. This episode had a ton of build up, and it was all worth it. From Morley Safer doing the introduction 60 Minutes style to Henry Kissinger spouting cliches such as, "Let's get ready to rock," to Peter Frampton showing up to provide a holiday miracle, this episode was ridiculous, but a ton of fun. Which is pretty much the definition of The Colbert Report.

It has been a great year for The Report, and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next year!moreless
