Gordon McCrae hosts this episode, telecast live from Mardi Gras in New Orlean's French Quarter. McCrae welcomes guests: Peggy Lee; Louis Armstrong; banjo-playing comedian Gene Sheldon; The New Orleans Jazz Saints; dancers Skeets and Pete; and Carmen Dragon and his Orchestra. Miss Lee performs "I've Got a Right to Sing the Blues" and "Come Rain or Come Shine"; she duets with McCrae on "The Birth of the Blues" and "Long Ago and Far Away".
