Carlos and Miguel are Englishmen obsessed with the mystique of the Old West-- would-be gunmen ever in search of a brawl. Traveling the countryside by public rail on a fantasy holiday, in costumes straight out of a Spaghetti Western, they hook up with spunky Australian tourists, a hippie hitchhiker, and a mass-murderer who works in an abattoir but dresses as a matador.moreless

      • Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders were late to filming so two crew members were sent to get them. And found them very ill sue to carbon monixide poisoning. It's said that if they'd been left much longer they couldn have died.

      • The Producer of A Fistful Of Travellers Cheques, Sarah Radclyffe, said in the 30 Years Of The Comic Strip documentary that Ade Edmondson was arrested for running down the street naked.

      • There's a scene where Carlos (Rik Mayall) is walking down the high street and a car drives towards him and swerves at the last second. The car was driven by the art director not a professional stunt driver.

      • The film show two students Miguel (Peter Richardson) and Carlos (Rik Mayall) going to Spain to create a spaghetti western type holiday. During a '30 years Of The Comic Strip' documentary for Gold TV station it was sugguested that Carlos never returned home and Miguel, now an agricultural engineer, returns to Spain to track him down. Richardson and Mayall both recreated their iconic roles for the special to explain what happened to their characters and how Carlos never returned to Basingstoke Technical College to finished his 2 year engineering course.
