    • In an interview Peter Richardson stated that they were going to get the real Jason King, presumable meaning Peter Wyngard, but said that he was "so loopy. He wanted to wear riding pinks, and we said fine, then he wanted to ride a horse or something - a scene that just wasn't there - and his demands got more and more eccentric and we just gave up".

    • The Gourmet Detective is obviously based on Keith Floyd. Detectives On The Edge Of A Nervous Breakdown was shown in 1993. In March 1994 the BBC brought out a show called Pie In The Sky with Richard Griffiths about a detective who was also a chef!

    • 'Detectives On The Edge Of A Nervous Breakdown' is a sequel to 'The Bullshitters'. Where 'The Bullshitters' was a take-off of The Professionals. 'Detectives On The Edge...' used a variety of UK cop shows from the 60's-90's including Department S (changed to Department Z), The Sweeney (The Weenie) , The Professionals (The Bullshitters) and Spender (Spanker).

    • Many cast members from series 7 episodes also appeared in Glam Metal Detectives.

    • Parodies: The Sweeney, Department S, and Spender.
