The video Rudy and Olivia watch is a play on the 1981 classic, "An American Werewolf in London".
When the two women are sitting in the living room and laughing, Clair's dress is half red and half magenta. However, the colors somehow leap from left to right and vice-versa.
The two decide to sleep in Clair and Cliff's because they were frightened by the scary video. Rudy comes into the room and tells Olivia that she turned off all the lights in the house and set booby traps. Then the kids go to sleep. When Clair and Cliff get home, the lights in the living room are turned on, even after Rudy said she shut off all the lights. Clair and Cliff did not turn them on; they were already on when they opened the door.
If Cliff wanted to win the pinochle tournament so badly, why did he ask Dr. Harmon to be his partner? Wouldn't Russell have been the better choice since he always beats Cliff when they play together, or perhaps Dr. Foster, who helped Cliff beat Russell?
(after Cliff and Clair walk into their bedroom and find Rudy and Olivia sleeping with cloves of garlic around them)
Clair: Cliff? Why is Olivia holding that piece of meat?
Cliff: Don't you get it dear? It's the steak to drive through the vampire's heart! (Clair laughs)
Cliff: (picking up a frozen t-bone steak from beside Olivia) A steak, to ward the vampires off.
