This was not exactly one of the most hilarious episodes of The Cosby Show you will ever see, but it was close enough to a good episode for the filler content it featured. The whole thing with the pimple was pretty stupid, but the bikeriding scenes and the stuff about math was pretty funny. "What's an acute triangle?" "A triangle that looks good." Genuine lol moment there.

Cliff had some good lines and they had a nice message about the importance of math. That is one of the great things about this show: you get some laughs, but you also get some good life lessons in each half hour of TV as well.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: When Clair is sitting on the front porch talking to Mrs. Westlake, she is wearing a purple plaid dress with fringe on the sleeves, but minutes later when she is in the kitchen with Vanessa and Denise, she is wearing a tan pants suit with a red sweater. When and why did she change clothes? Rudy and Cliff are still wearing the same clothes they had on in the last scene.

    • At the beginning of this episode, Rudy is riding her bike around the house which is right on the corner of a block. Since when is their house on the corner. In every other episode they are in between other houses.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Cockroach: Why do I need math? When I get older, I'm gonna inherit my dad's scrap-iron business.
Cliff: You need math because you're gonna have to be able to count the pieces of metal as they come off the line.
Cockroach: We have a foreman who does that.
Cliff: Okay, you need math so you can count the money.
Cockroach: We have an accountant who does that.
Cliff: Then you're gonna be broke!
      Cockroach: No way!
Cliff: If the foreman can count and the accountant can count and you can't, you're gonna be broke!

    • Clair: You can't ride to the park unless you are accompanied by an adult.
      Rudy: Will you 'upcompany' me?

  • NOTES (3)

    • When Theo and Cockroach leave to go study for their test after Cliff's lecture, Cliff says to Cockroach, "See ya later, Scrap Iron!" In Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, Bill Cosby talks about a kid he once knew named Scrap Iron Yates.

    • Future model and actress Garcelle Beauvais appears uncredited as a nurse in this episode.

    • This is the only episode where we learn Cockroach's full name, Walter Bradley.
