The music during the cake-eating sequence of the last scene is the same music (by Grover Washington) which Theo played during the Smooth Contest in "Clair's Toe" from season 2.
Goof: At the beginning of the episode, Theo, Vanessa and Rudy all act as if they forgot Clair's birthday. But Rudy already had a present for her mother's birthday, the pendant she ordered in the episode, "Cyranoise de Bergington".
(Cliff blows into a pitch pipe)
Cliff: Be kind to your old ragged wife. (Blows into pitch pipe again) For she sags, and she bags, and she sputters.
Clarie: Ok, that's fine. That's enough. This is more embarrassing for you than it is for me.
Denise Nicholas, who played Lorraine, co-starred with Bill Cosby in the film, Ghost Dad.
The final scene of this episode has no dialogue, but features Cliff and Clair eating cake with anything but forks.
