NBC (ended 1992)
Bill Cosby believes in helping out new and upcoming talent by having those three characters help boost their career.
Lance was already an known actor from his role in New Jack City
Charmaine was also a known actress from her role in lean on me.
Did anyone know that Slide played charmaine boyfrined in Lean on me?
This was Pam's first real role. She appeared in other series and movies but with a small role or no reaccuring roles
|what are you talking about? i ve wacthed the show since i was five and i think olivia was great! she didnt make the show any better but she was colorful and fun.|
I have to agree about Pam. While I do like Erika Alexander, her character on this show shouldn't have been something to make her a series regular. Her story arc would have been more beneficial on 'A Different World', since her, Charmaine, Lance and Sly were all in high school, and thinking about their futures. I think the better approach would have been to have 'A Different World' have episodes where one of the Hillman crew (probably Freddie, or Kim) be a mentor to Pam and there we could have met the other 3 characters. Having Pam live in the area of Hillman and maybe distantly related to the Huxtables would have been more likable. But adding her to to 'The Cosby Show' just threw the chemistry off, especially when there could have been just as good (probably better) stories created for the current Huxtable kids already there.
As a sidenote, I believe that the show JTS (jumped the shark) when Olivia became a "front" running character every episode. She became the new young "cute one." I can understand her being there for Denise and Martin obviously. But there were episodes with her, that didn't even have her parents. And then they left for the last season, but Olivia was still there, but conveniently, she was to go with them in the last episode, despite the reasons for her not going in the beginning of that season? It was just silly...and while it was good watching her grow, she became overexposed.
