The Cosby Show Season 5 Episode 9

Some parts of this episode just didn’t seem right for The Cosby Show, even though it was still funny. It wasn’t right for this kind of show because of how the comedy was revealed. This episode was about Vanessa and her friends singing as a new group, as they sang "The Locomotion". Cliff says to the girls after a surprisingly provocative dance, “Aren’t you all swollen in areas that you weren’t swollen in before?” You don’t usually expect that from this show, nor do you expect what Clair did next, which was pulling out tissues from Vanessa’s bra. The first time I watched this, I was laughing as usual, but I was also thinking “Is there a new writer or director?” The show around the dance scene was in-character as Cliff tired to explain to Vanessa and the girls that they have to learn the basics first, even though they didn’t listen. Clair also goes on a rant after the dance scene, which was in-character and also funny. Overall it was another great episode.
