Vanessa goes to a girl's-only party at her friend Susan Henning's house. Ostensibly, the young ladies want a break from the annoying behavior of boys. However, they very quickly grow insufferably bored. Susan comes up with the idea of playing a drinking game, using her parents' bourbon. Vanessa is reluctant, but the others convince her to go along; they don't even bother to designate a driver. Everybody gets horribly drunk; Susan has to call taxis for many of them. Vanessa calls Denise for a ride home; Denise has to sneak Vanessa in through the back door and kitchen (their parents are watching TV in the living room nearby), and from there upstairs to Vanessa's room. Yet it's all for nothing because Susan's mother has called Clair to apologize for the girls guzzling bourbon at the Henning residence. The elder Huxtables confront Denise and then Vanessa...the latter of whom is, by now, sick to her stomach. Cliff and Clair explain that they're not angry with the girls: Denise was protecting her sister; the punishment Vanessa has already inflicted on herself is more than suitable. Yet Cliff and Clair add that they need to know, always and promptly, if any of their children are in trouble. Although Vanessa's hangover carries into the next morning, Clair takes her to school so the girl can see what "the day after" is like. It works: Vanessa swears off drinking for good. Even then, her parents - inspired by a conversation they just had with Theo - devise a prank to teach Vanessa about peer pressure. They force Vanessa into a drinking game with them...and even Rudy! It's a nightmare for Vanessa, until she misses a turn and has to drink; they're not drinking bourbon, actually, but tea. Vanessa is elated almost to tears when Rudy and their parents call out, in dead sync, "GOTCHA"!
