  • Mrs. Westlake

Not a wildly funny episode, but a good moral story with a predictable ending, and the kind of humor that works when you deal with a family-based sitcom. Not one you will be quoting, but one you will remember and that is a special thing. Just one storyline and that's all you need for a solid episode here.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • If you listen closely, you can hear Theo's voice cracking. His voice cracks when he says, "Dad, what are you doing?" His voice gets deep and husky when he says, "Come here" to Denise. Maybe it's because both Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Theo were fourteen at the time and going through voice changing.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • Jack Westlake: (as Mrs Westlake is sharing about her college years) Tell them about what you did on the weekends!
Mrs. Westlake: I drove a taxicab! (everyone laughs) This man got into my cab and said, 'I need to get to the airport, and step on it!' I said, 'you want me to step on the airport?' He said, 'I need to get there in a jiffy!' I said, 'this is NOT a Jiffy, this is a Yellow Cab! (more laughs)
Clair: So, did that man make it to the airport?
Jack: Yes, but I missed my flight!

    • Clair (obviously talking to Mrs. Westlake): I love your accent. Where are you from?
      Jack: I'm from Indiana.
Mrs. Westlake: That's why I marry him. I love the way he talks!
