Goof: When Clair is sitting on the front porch talking to Mrs. Westlake, she is wearing a purple plaid dress with fringe on the sleeves, but minutes later when she is in the kitchen with Vanessa and Denise, she is wearing a tan pants suit with a red sweater. When and why did she change clothes? Rudy and Cliff are still wearing the same clothes they had on in the last scene.
At the beginning of this episode, Rudy is riding her bike around the house which is right on the corner of a block. Since when is their house on the corner. In every other episode they are in between other houses.
When Cliff meets Eddie in the living room with Denise, he says they're watching the All Music Station. This is likely an MTV reference, since back in the 80's, MTV only played music videos.
Cuts from this episode for syndication:
Sondra accusing Elvin of being passive-aggressive during their argument about his unwillingness to get angry.
Robert talking to Cliff about "things happening that you didn't expect" right after Cliff compliments Robert, Elvin, and Eddie for being dressed so handsomely.
Vanessa complains of the freezing temperatures outside on her long walk home but she is not wearing gloves. Clair mentions that she should put on her gloves before going to view Denise's car...she never had any on so why place them on now?
While Cliff and Clair are getting ready to head to the club to hear Russell play, Clair sings a phrase from Phil Phillips' "Sea of Love".
Elvin states he is an art major at Princeton. In later episodes he is known to be a pre-med major.
The closed captioning misspells Elvin's name as "Alvin" through the entire episode.
If you listen closely, you can hear Theo's voice cracking. His voice cracks when he says, "Dad, what are you doing?" His voice gets deep and husky when he says, "Come here" to Denise. Maybe it's because both Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Theo were fourteen at the time and going through voice changing.
Goof: When Clair and Denise are watching the Bears vs. the Giants game, they comment on how cute player number 16 is. In 1985, nobody wore #16 for either the Bears or the Giants. Former Bears' placekicker Bob Thomas wore it from 1975 to 1984 until he retired. #16 wasn't worn again by the Bears until Tim Lashar, another kicker, wore it in 1987. Also, #16 had long since been retired by the Giants. It was last worn by Frank Gifford.
When Robert grabs Scott's shirt, Scott hits the wall and it moves backwards about an inch.
Why would Theo ask if Suzanne's boyfriend was her brother when Suzanne told him she's an only child?
When Darryl arrives for the date, Cliff sends Theo upstairs to get Sondra, but Theo had just left Sondra in the kitchen. Why didn't he go back into the kitchen if he knew that's where she was?
When Anna and Russell first start protesting against going on the cruise, one of their arguments is that they'll have to arrange for someone to pick up their mail and newspapers. Later on, when they change their minds and decide to go, Anna says, "We won't even tell them we're leaving. We'll just send a postcard." If they don't tell anyone they're leaving, how will Cliff know he's supposed to pick up their mail and newspapers?
I am a little confused about Anna & Russell's history: in this episode, as Cliff is presenting the portrait, he tells a long winded story about how Anna and Russell first met when he was a performer in an Army band at a dance Anna attended. But in Independence Day, Anna tells a story about how Russell tried to tattoo Anna's name on his chest when they were Theo's age, leading us to believe the couple were childhood sweethearts, like Cliff & Clair. Furthermore, when Cliff is telling the story about Russell in the bandstand, he says his father was a trumpet player, but in all the episodes where Russell performs music, he's called Russell "Slide" Huxtable because he plays the TROMBONE. We even see him play the trombone in "Play It Again, Russell." How well does Cliff REALLY know his parents?
Goof: When Cliff goes in to check if Vanessa's up for school, Rudy is wearing a pink blouse and plaid pants. Later, she's sitting at the breakfast table wearing a white top and red plaid jumper.
Goof: This episode leads the viewers to believe that Cliff was born in May, but in the episode entitled "Father's Day", Cliff says his birthday is in October.
After Cliff goes into the kitchen and sends the kids into the living room to see Russell, he mentions Russell to Theo, who says, "He's here? I'll go say hi." But Cliff just came into the kitchen and announced quite loudly that Russell wanted to see the kids. So shouldn't Theo have already known he was there?
During the scene where the twin sisters were singing their song, Theo was asked by Cliff to go to Peter's house and ask his mother if he could stay. Theo left immediately after this. But if you look closely while the twins are singing, you'll see Theo's arm in the scene. When the twins finish performing, they sit down. After this, you see Theo coming through the door after having just gone to Peter's house.
Naoka said earlier in the episode that she hadn't ever had a cookie because of her milk allergy and Cliff said that she wouldn't get one at their house. However, later in the episode, Cliff tells them all to go get a cookie and Naoka runs into the kitchen with the rest of them.
