The story, written by Alexander Dumas around the mid-19th century, has always been one of my favorites. It has been rewritten in many forms taking some liberties with the original, but I like them all, including the 2002 movie starring Jim Caviezel. I've never seen the TV series starring Peter Dolenz (father of Monkee Mickey Dolenz) but I'm sure I'd like it too. It would be nice if I could find it somewhere in DVD form, even if not an official release.

The best and definitive Count of Monte Christo was Alan Badel. I think the series was on BBC t.v. in 1960. I would love to find a recording of it or for the BBC to at least repeat it. People bang on about the original Forsyte Saga but Monte Christo was much better in every way and Alan Badel was superb.
