    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Cheese Chasers marks the last appearance of Hubie and Bertie from the Classic era. Also featured in this short is a bulldog predecessor to Marc Antony.

      • Yankee Doodle Daffy was the second Technicolor Looney Tunes entry to feature Porky Pig and Daffy Duck.

The first one was My Favorite Duck (1942).

      • In the 1988 TV special/compilation Bugs vs. Daffy: Battle of the Music Video Stars, Daffy refers to his abrupt transition from banjo playing to Carmen Miranda impersonation from Yankee Doodle Daffy as his "crossover hit, 'Banjo Chicky-Boom.'"

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Bulldog (To Claude the Cat): You're a cat, right?
        Claude: Right.
Bulldog: And cats eat mice, right?
        Claude (Shaking his head): No!
Bulldog (Confused, looking at Hubie and Bertie): And you two... you're mice, right? (The mice nod) And mice, they eat cheese, right?
Hubie and Bertie: Cheese! Yaaaaah! Don't mention that word!

      • Hubie: Hey, Bert.
Bertie: Yeah-yeah, Hubie. What is it, huh? What is it?
        Hubie: Let's quit.
        Bertie: Yeah-yeah, sure-sure. I don't feel so good.
Hubie: Bert, an average mouse eats 12 pounds of cheese in its lifetime. I figure tonight we've lived 2,000 years.
Bertie: Hubie, I'll never be able to touch the stuff again.
Hubie: Me neither. So there's nothing left to live for.
        Bertie: You mean?!
Hubie (Nods): Come on, Bert, let's get it over with.
        Bertie: Yeah yeah. Over. (Hiccups)

      • Bugs Bunny: You realize that this is not going to be unchallenged.

      • Sleepy LaGoon (Baritone singing): Let spring-time blossoms bloom again... Of... (starts coughing loudly) ... m-my heart.

      • Daffy Duck: Yes sir, Daffy Duck! Personal representative of the most sensational discovery since the Sweater Girl! He's colossal, he's stupendous! One might even go so far as to say...he's mediocre!
