  • An unusually weak episode and worse, an episode where Stewart's intellect goes limp in failing to challenge the right-wing musing of a lawyer who wrote a book about climatology. Would you want your local TV weatherman representing you in a court of law?moreless

I love the Daily Show and I consider myself middle of the road politically. I also have a couple of science degrees so when I see someone like Horner being taken seriously as a critic of global warming, I'm going to expect to see a pretty decent set up and punchline. What a disappointment! For the first time in a long while, Stewart was left looking ball-less and at times idiotic for not knowing the basic tenant of science – that it should be conducted using the scientific method, not political methods. This might be his worst interview ever regardless of what you think about the show's political perspective. Steward clearly underestimated Horner who roasted him several times in ways that made him look stupid. The biggest joke should have been the fact a lawyer with a clear conservative agenda has written a critique of a technical and scientific field of study and expects to be taken seriously. Who the hell does this guy think he is? Instead, Stewart becomes the joke in admitting not understanding science and leaving his neck open for the kill. Comedy bits were pretty forgettable as well. Can't nail them all, but this was a serious botched opportunity. For those stupid enough to use the show as their principle news source, they would have left the half-hour grossly uninformed and worse, unamused.moreless
