  • Ed Helms learns about monkeys.

Jon gets right into the show, and throws it to Ed Helms, who is at the Bronx Zoo. Ed talks to someone at the zoo, and finds primatologist, Dr. Dan Wharton, who tells Ed than man has a bigger penis than apes. Ed seems to be thrilled with this. Ed goes on to invite a small monkey to spend the day with him, and it turns out that our behavior is very similar.

Ayla, the monkey who followed Ed Helms around, is given a shot to do a segment, but is too busy slamming the mic into a table.

Jon transitioned into the confirmation hearings of John Roberts. Jon discusses things that were discussed by Senator Biden, Senator Kennedy, and Senator Coburn. Coburn seemed visably upset about the anger the Democrats and Republicans seem to throw at one another. But, he's apparently not so angry at himself for things he's said in 2004, which include "The gay community... is the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today."; or "I favor the death penalty for abortionists." Jon even shows that Senator Coburn seemed to be distracted during the confirmation hearings, by doing a cross-word puzzle of all things.

To get more on John Roberts, Jon turned to Senior Judicial Confirmation Analyst, Stephen Colbert. It turns out the Republicans are disappointed, because there's not likely going to be a lot of resistance to Judge John Roberts.

Returning from commercial, Jon returns to discuss evolution. Specifically, he's referring to the fights in school boards, which include the one in Kansas.

Jon then introduced Kurt Vonnegut, who Jon has wanted to talk to for a very long time. They talk a little about evolution, a little bit about Iraq, and then about his books. Kurt had a list of things he's tired of hearings liberals talk about, but there wasn't time. Jon said they'd put the list on the official site.

Ed Helms' segment was funnier tonight than last night's. The way the monkey followed him and copied everything he did was hilarious.

Jon and Stephen did a good job with delivering comedy with the whole John Roberts confirmation hearings. It was good to see Stephen Colbert hasn't left just yet.moreless
