Jon starts off tonight's show by mentioning President Bush's speech about securing the Mexican border. Jon jokes about Bush's plans to wiretap the phones of Mexicans. He then admits he hasn't seen the speech, since they tape the show in the afternoon.

Jon switches subjects to a diplomatic soccer match, featuring leaders of several European countries.

Moving on, Jon brings up the big NSA wiretapping debate. The President and his people have tried to reinforce the fact that the wiretapping are done very focused so that we don't have anything to worry about. It now turns out the NSA has collected a ton of information on billions of American's phone calls. The database they've collected is believed to be the largest database assembled in history. President Bush has tried to assure Americans that they're not interested in what the average person is saying on the phone. Instead, the NSA is trying to find spikes in calls to certain areas of the world, in hopes of finding out about new terrorists and terrorist attacks. Jon has noticed that FOX News has been very supportive of the NSA plan. He shows a series of clips of news anchor after news anchor tell viewers how good this program is for the country.

Back from commercial, Jon turns his attention to the next Presidential race. He focuses specifically on John McCain, who seems to have changed his mind in his support of Jerry Fallwell. In other news, Senator Hillary Clinton has come out and make a speech, criticizing young people. She said to them, working is a four letter word. Jon then brings out a "crotchety old man" who blasts Hillary Clinton with a very personal insult.

Back from commercial, Jon welcomes tonight's guest, Howard Dean. They have a light-hearted discussion about border security, immigration, the 2006 and 2008 elections, and intelligence.

Tonight's episode focused on a lot of the major news surrounding the wiretapping debate. Jon also covered the ridiculous actions of Senators McCain and Clinton. The interview was very good as far as humor is concerned. Howard Dean is one of those politicians who has a great sense of humor and is a great guest for the show, regardless of his political views. My favorite segment from tonight was the bringing in of the crotchety old man to respond to some of the things Senator Clinton said. He was hilarious!moreless
