  • Fantastic, funny and hard hitting.

    9.0
From the first joke of Jon Stewart "slippin' his demotape" to Neil Young

("Just some folkstuff I wrote")to the last discussion when Steven Colbert takes Neil Youngs songs as pro war.

("Do you remember his song where the brave national guard take on all those anti-american peace hippies? Great stuff!")

But easily the episodes best joke is when John Hodgeman want to show pictures of Muhammed but Jon stops him.

("Actually, they aren't pictures, more like drawings. I don't have many of them, only about 24 of them")

    Fantastic through and through.moreless
  • Neil Young drops by to promote his new movie.

    8.7
Jon starts off the show by mentioning the recent church fires in the south, which was caused by three college kids, who said it was a prank that went too far, something Jon finds ridiculous.

Jon then moves on to President Bush's current trips to India and Pakistan. Several video clips are shown of the President's trip, which includes being educated on some of the local traditions. When Bush holds up what looks like an enormous green potato, Jon can't help make a joke about its size compared to our own. Jon finds the fact that President Bush made a nuclear agreement with Pakistan and not India to be very odd. For more on this, Jon turns to Resident Expert, John Hodgeman, who does a great job trying to explain things in a comedic way, of course.

Back from commercial, Jon puts the spotlight on Barry Bonds, who's been rumored to have used steroids for years. For more on this, Jon welcomes Senior Baseball Drug Expert, Rob Corrdry. When Rob tried to ask Barry Bonds about the recent allegations, Rob says Barry went a little crazy. Jon and Rob talked about the various types of steroids Barry allegedly used and they also briefly touched on what Bud Selig may do if Barry Bonds surpasses Hank Aaron in the most career home runs.

Back from commercial, Jon welcomes tonight's guest, Neil Young. During the interview, it becomes obvious that Jon's a long-time fan of Neil's music, and this makes for a very nice interview. They talk about Neil's music as well as the new concert film he's featured in.

John Hodgeman is really improving as a comedian. His timing is improving, and the material he's been given has also been improving, making for probably his best appearance yet. The segment about Barry Bonds was well done; Rob seemed to have a good time. The interview with Neil Young was enjoyable, although I'm not really a fan of his; he's before my time, I'm afraid.moreless
