  • Senator McCain comes by and discusses torture.

    8.5
Jon starts off the show by talking about how today is Election Day, and Jon doesn't have the results because he doesn't care.

Jon turns to torture, which was voted on in the Senate. Nine people seemed to vote for torture, yet they insist they didn't vote "for" torture. There is also word that Vice President Cheney is lobbying for the Congress and Senate to not include language in a bill that would disallow the CIA from torturing people.

For more on this torture story, Jon turns to Senior Legal Analyst, Ed Helms, who lays out a silly scenario in which people could allow for torture.

Jon then shows a story about secret CIA prisons where people are held for questioning. This was all a part of the segment, "The Less You Know."

Back from commercial, Jon welcomes tonight's guest, Senator John McCain, who wonders where the couch went. They discuss the issue of torture and take a commercial break.

As they were coming back from commercial, Jon shows an old clip from an interview with Senator McCain being interviewed by Steve Carell when the Senator was running for President. Jon then asks the Senator about the war in Iraq.

I enjoyed this episode, and I thought the interview went pretty well. Jon wasn't quite able to get the answers he wanted out of Senator McCain.moreless
  • Another great episode - I always love when Senator McCain is a guest! Also, did you see that Ed Helms was eating an Amy's Organics Vegetarian burrito?

Another great episode - I always love when Senator McCain is a guest. The Senator goes round for round with Jon Stewart, making funny remarks. Definitely the only Republican featured on the show that is not painful to watch! Also, did you see that Ed Helms was eating an Amy's Organics Vegetarian burrito?
