    • QUOTES (6)

      • John Oliver: Peter, you're here. I suppose technically I have to ask you a question. You've been very critical of Fox. What is your problem?
Peter Hart: I think it is responsible for maybe the most disingenuous slogan, "fair and balanced", that could possibly…
John Oliver: Okay, okay, that's enough!

      • John Oliver: The Fox philosophy isn't about ideology, Republicans, or Democrats. It is about a deep abiding love for the Executive Branch and they will wave that flag no matter who is in office in 2009. In the years to come, this fearless network will continue to say to America, with confidence and absolute certainty, "go fox yourself."

      • Aasif Mandvi: It's not an ethno-sectarian competition unless you break a couple of eggs.
Jon Stewart: Ethno-sectarian competition? They actually use that terminology over there?
Aasif Mandvi: Petraeus got it from them.
Jon Stewart: And what about the violence?
Aasif Mandvi: Please, it's a competition. They are gamers. They came to play. Well, they were here. The game came to them.

      • Jon Stewart: Ethno-sectarian competition. I don't want to be too hard on myself, but in grade school, I was always picked last in my school's ethno-sectarian competition. On the plus side, it's not civil war. It's merely a word for word synonym that makes civil war sound more like a spirited game of 'Capture the Flag.'

      • Jon Stewart: We did a report last night on the FAA. Following our report, coincidence I really don't know, American Airlines canceled 1,000 flights for inspection. 1,000 flights and, here's the thing, I was booked on 638 of them.

      • (commentary on Petraeus in Congress discussing war progress)
Jon Stewart: Now, America, at these prices, we can't afford not to be in this war.
