The Dark Ages

Show Summary

The History Channel takes a look at the 600-year span between the fall of the Roman Empire and the First Crusade. Life in the Dark Ages was very tough and people had to endure plagues, famine, and bloodshed. The darkness of the times was punctuated by light in the form of men and women who pushed forward with arts and technology. The History Channel explores this amazing period in history and how it shaped our modern world.

  • it was both great and educational at the same time.

I have seen The Dark Ages on the History Channel, and as a history buff, I just have to say that I found it both fun and educational at the same time. It has shown me that the fall of the Roman Empire has brought about a nightmerish 700 year period of plauge, ignorance, oppression, death, and chaos. The 100 million people who died during this period were better off dead. There were shreds of hope, however, with the Byzantine and Islamic Empires preserving western culture. I reccomend that schools show this documentary. It will give their students a peek into life in the Middle Ages.moreless
