The Daytime Emmy Awards debuted as its own award show in 1974 with only three categories: The Top Soap, The Top Actress, and The Top Actor. Since then daytime television has grown into a major small screen force, and The Daytime Emmy Awards has become the most highly-anticipated event of the year for fans and professionals alike.
