A lot of people are hating on this award show, but I did not think it was all that bad. As a daytime TV fan I was glad to see the dying genre get its due on the big stage. It was refreshing to see talented actors Jonathan Jackson and Laura Wright finally win their Emmys. There were some shocks too such as Brittany Allen winning Younger Actress, which should have gone to GH's Haley Pullos, who wasn't even nominated for some insane reason.
Wayne Brady did not give it his all as a host, that was clear, but he at least tried to be interested in what was happening. And the Oprah stuff ran a little long, but it's not like the Celine Dion or Gladys Knight performances were bad. And then they had the fun little bit with Shemar Moore and Susan Lucci. It is good for someone who moved on to primetime like Moore did with Criminal Minds to come back and give this genre some respect.
What was best about this show was that despite the fact that Daytime TV is unfortunately dying, you did not get that feeling tonight.moreless
