  • What was this all about?

    5.0
It seemed like a filler episode to me. I understand that they had to introduce the character of Greg Stillman but I was hoping for something a little more interesting for the season finale. For a normal episode it would still be pretty bad but for a finale it was terrible. Normally you expect the best episode of the season for the finale, thank god this wasn't it. There were some parts of the episode I liked. The parts with Johnny dealing with all the attention from saving all those people was interesting, as it's not something that's been dealt with before. I also liked how they tied stuff into previous episodes. Like when Johnny woke up from his coma saying that something was wrong. It's good that they've used that in this episode.

Apart from that there really wasn't anything that I liked about this episode. Every other episode has been fantastic IMO and I think this was just a blip.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • At 13:46 when Greg Stillson is buttoning his shirt, and just before he sits, the reflection of a boom-mic is visible in the window behind him, just to the right of the flag.

  • QUOTES (2)

    • (Johnny and Bruce are in Johnny's house hiding from reporters)
Bruce: How long you gonna keep this up?
Johnny: Till they forget about me.
Bruce: Which they're not gonna do. You can disconnect your phone, lock yourself in, and play chess all day but you're just gonna end up more famous like J.D. Salinger.
Johnny: I was hoping for Willy Wonka.

    • Purdy: I know this isn't the life you would've chosen. But is the life that has chosen. And you cannot deny the possibility that some other force is guiding you, choosing what you see.
Johnny: Just say his name, Reverend - I know you're dying to.
Gene Purdy: Destiny, Johnny. It is your destiny to help people. I truly believe that.

  • NOTES (3)

    • On the day Greg Stillson is sworn in (September 1, 2001), Johnny wakes up, yelling, "Something's wrong, something's wrong!" In the pilot, the viewer is led to believe that Johnny was simply referring to the nurse's daughter, who was trapped in a fire. However, it's made clear in the season finale that there was a greater danger that awoke Johnny, and it relates to visions Johnny has of Greg Stillson being elected and how they pertain to other visions he has of Washington D.C. burning.

    • The first season ends with the part in the storyline from the movie and Stephen King's novel, where Johnny realizes that he must stop the corrupt senator Greg Stillson, played by Martin Sheen in the movie.
