Johnny is still concerned about his visions of Washington D.C. in flames and the part he may play, and asks Bruce to do "whatever it takes" to stop him. Christopher Wey materializes to him again and shows him a vision of the future, where John sees a Missing poster of one of Stillson's campaign advisors, Rachel Caldwell. He goes to meet her and discovers she was inadvertently present when Stillson was testing some rigged touch-screen voting machines, as well as romantically involved with Stillson. He gets her to meet with him but suffers another in a series of recent blackouts, and when he wakes up he's got a head wound and he finds she's disappeared. He convinces Sheriff Bannerman to go to Rachel's house, where they meet her sister Rebecca. She's not entirely sure of Johnny's motives, and he can't give an alibi for the time she disappeared.
Bannerman meets with Stillson, who denies any involvement. Stillson is concerned about Johnny's involvement and puts pressure on Reverend Purdy and Faith Heritage to rein the psychic in. Johnny meets with Rebecca and tries to recreate his steps with Rachel, but she ends up helping Stillson when he makes a press conference. Johnny confronts Stillson and gets a vision of an explosion devastating Washington D.C. Then Rachel's car shows up a few blocks from Johnny's home and Rebecca suspects Smith. Johnny touches the car and apparently sees himself drive up to the empty car on the road and take the keys, but still doesn't remember making the 911 call. At the road side he gets a vision of Rachel fleeing with the camera into the woods and himself in the vision finding the camera.
With the evidence mounting up against him, Rebecca believes Johnny's the killer and Bannerman recovers the tape, which shows Johnny as the only person at the murder scene. With no choice, Bannerman arrests Johnny. (to be continued)
